My street has been getting posher for a while now, and last year my local—The Dog and Truck—showed signs of going the same way.
I needn’t have worried. Although the place has been spruced up and the home-cooked food swapped for a menu featuring Pieminister pies, all is still well.
There’s a couple of real ales on hand pumps, a nice selection of more mainstream beer (from Heineken to Meantime, via a very respectable IPA), and a large inventory of spirits for such a dinky establishment.
If you love a friendly, slightly old-school east end pub with bar games (and who doesn’t?), you should definitely drop into The Dog and Truck.
