By Lynn Reynolds, writer: longtime EastEnder, sometime Bermondseyite.
Yauatcha City does amazing lobster noodles and fabulously moreish cocktails, but did you know this elegant European-Asian fusion restaurant also excels when it comes to afternoon tea?
Consider yourself told. And next time you have a free Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, make sure you book yourself in for their ‘A Taste of Yauatcha’ afternoon menu, available from 3-6pm.
At £30 for two people, this deal promises five dim sum courses and your choice of Chinese tea. And it more than delivers.
Each round of dim sum was a feast for the senses, but my favourite (by a nose) was the delicately pleated Phoenix Crown black pepper dumpling, a vegetarian mouthful gone all too soon for my liking.
Cakes aren’t included in the ‘Taste’ menu, but if you’ve a sweet tooth you have my permission to round things off with one of Yauatcha Patisserie’s light and inventive creations.
